Taylor Swift to re-record her albums
On June 30, 2019 Taylor Swift penned down a Tumblr post in which she talked about how her former record label stripped her of her life's work by selling her music to Scott Borchetta who happens to be one of the people that Swift despised as she was allegedly bullied by him. She said that she made a post about the situation because she wanted to create awareness for the other young artists who want to be a part of music industry as she strongly believes that every artist deserves to own the art that they create.
Earlier this month, Swift announced that she will be rerecording all of her six albums in 2020. This announcement has caused a confusion among the public and people are debating whether Swift's decision to rerecord her albums is a marketing strategy or if it is just a vengeance against Big Machine and Scott Borchetta. Taylor has always been known as one of the greatest businesswomen of the music industry. Hence it is hard to know if she is re-recording her existing catalog to regain artistic and financial control of her material or is she doing this because she can't bear the betrayal that she received from her former manager Scooter Braun's part who never presented Swift with the offer to own her music but without any hesitation sold it to Scott Borchetta for $300 million.
Taylor Swift has a very strong and loyal fanbase. Her fans, Swifties, are already showing a lot of support for Taylor's decision to rerecord her albums and fellow artists like Kelly Clarkson and Cara Delevingne have also vowed to buy all the six rerecorded albums just to prove the point that an art deserves to own the art that they create. It is a great marketing strategy on part of Swift. Her music is worth much more than $300 million and re-releasing all her music will not just give her the artistic ownership to it but it will also help her have financial benefit from it once again.
